New for 2010, want to play games against each other in ways you never expected? You won’t want to miss this room! Have you ever wanted to take on nine other people in a frantic-paced game of Bomberman? Or take on two Xbox consoles against one another hooked up via an ethernet cable? Or maybe just check out a four player NES title? Then you won’t want to miss this incredible addition to the Classic Gaming and Computing area in 2010 — the Versus Room! Electronic games have always been better when there are more people playing them. Many pinball machines even sported the slogan that ‘It is more fun to compete!’ But sometimes, it seems that most home game consoles until recently weren’t made to support more than two people at a time. It wasn’t until the N64 was released in 1996 that the United States had a console that supported four players at once out of the box. What this means is that many gamers missed some of the most impressive multiplayer games, since often the adapters to run these games were expensive or rare or both. Even the Atari 2600 sported four player simultanious games, and you’ll get a chance to check some of these awesome titles out in the Versus Room in 2010! But that isn’t all — after the N64, console manufacturers really took gaming in a different direction. Many consoles including the Playstation and Xbox allowed gamers to hook them up using system links of various types to play games versus one another literally using two consoles side by side. Between the cost of purchasing a second system, system link cable, and two copies of the game you wanted to play, these games were pretty rare to play in this format too… but you’ll also get a chance to check out some of these awesome titles in the Versus Room for 2010! The Versus Room is just one more addition to the amazing line up of interactive displays for the 2010 Midwest Gaming Classic! The Midwest Gaming Classic puts a premium on ensuring the gamer actually gets to game while he or she is at the show, and the addition of this hugely competitive room will only further that ability. You won’t want to miss the Versus Room or anything else at the 2010 Midwest Gaming Classic!
